About Us

The Quilting Shed started out as a longarm business back in March 2017. Later that year, we had purchased the inventory of a closed quilt shop and added fabric selection and notions to our business, as well as an online shop. Running out of an unused room in our house, the shop quickly grew larger. In 2019 we bought out the inventory of a second closed quilt shop.

In Spring of 2020, we moved to the Hanwell area during the COVID-19 crisis. With limitations on business transactions, this was a good time to move the shop to a new planned location, even though building the new shop was delayed.

With the transition to the new location some new charges were in order. To reflect the new location we rebranded our name from Ridge Machine Quilting to The Quilting Shed and with a new shop we expanded our offerings once again.

In our search for new fabrics and patterns, we have a keen eye for unusual and long lasting prints, gorgeous batiks, and notions that we use ourselves. For patterns we hunt down Canadian designers as well as popular sellers. We love quality fabric, solids, modern traditionalism and sometimes a good old fashioned reprint.

In September we opened the shop location to two full rooms of gorgeous fabrics and quilting notions.

The Quilting Shed looks forward to crafting the most beautiful quilt out of the thread and fabric of our community.
